Summary of annual plans of recipient

In April 2019, the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute will be undertaking a policy research scoping exercise. As part of this exercise, the Board of Directors along with the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute Advisory Committee, Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute Special Advisors, Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute Voting and Honorary Members, and its staff, will assess the current direction and future requirements for policy research in the agriculture and agri-food space in Canada.

Out of this exercise, a clear agenda for policy research will emerge. Until the scoping exercise takes place a preliminary policy research agenda is envisaged by the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute. It follows from 2018–19 initiatives.

Like last year, the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute will complete policy research work in the areas of:

  • 1) enhancing natural capital;
  • 2) optimizing growth;
  • 3) facilitating trade;
  • 4) securing public trust.

As well as undertake work in the cross-cutting theme of:

  1. 5) innovation and uptake technology.

This exploding area of discovery and application of technology applies to policy questions examined in all of the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute’s four original policy areas.
