Your opinion matters
Producers are front and center of this initiative. We want to work with you and for you in the development of this Strategy. By working together, we want:
- To ensure that Canada's agriculture sector is equipped to recover quickly from extreme events;
- Thrive in a changing climate;
- Remain viable and competitive, and,
- Protect and preserve our natural resources for generations to come.
At the launch event in December, Minister Bibeau said "The Sustainable Agriculture Strategy will pave the way to help us sustain the livelihoods of farmers. Drawing from their expertise and best practices, we can ensure that the sector is more resilient in the face of climate change."
Mary Robinson from the Canadian Federation of Agriculture echoed that and said "This approach, which considers all facets of sustainability – environmental, economic, and social – is needed to ensure we can find pragmatic business solutions that support continued competitiveness and reduce the sector's environmental footprint"
Want to share your ideas, but cannot make it to a virtual session? A discussion document is available for comments and input on our website.
Producer associations and producer groups are also invited to send complete submissions through our Sustainable Agriculture Strategy email aafc.sas-sad.aac@agr.gc.ca Public Consultations run until March 31, 2023 and regional-producer outreach will continue throughout 2023 and beyond.
