Call to order/Chair remarks

  • Eric Jones welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.

Observers Comment/Questions

  • None

Review of previous meeting minutes November 8, 2018

  • Adoption of the previous minutes was approved.

Business arising from the previous minutes

  • Membership update
    • None
  • Chair
    • Eric Jones reported no nominations had been received for a new chairperson, noting that it was time for succession.
  • Information-gathering Task Report
    • The Working Group that was formed last meeting submitted a draft survey questionnaire to gather input from visitors online and a briefing note on CEFAC’s mandate.  The survey will be finalized shortly by the Working Group, with input from AAFC and CEFAC and other stakeholders, and then implemented.  The briefing note was accepted as presented.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada updates

  • Cory Reaney mentioned that Integrated Services are planting trees along Ash Lane.  The current work focus is on infrastructure and stonework.  The City is expected to proceed with the Baseline Transit Corridor in the future although impacts to the Farm are being mitigated.  In ongoing discussion, it was noted that planned work on the O-train tracks and tunnel is not expected to impact the Arboretum.

Update from members

  • Members provided a few updates on current activities of interest. In discussion, it was noted that there will need to be future attention to potential updates to the National Historic Site Management Plan for the CEF.

New business

  • Canadensis
    • Council member raised some questions about potential impacts of the proposed botanical garden on the site. Joel Wilkin suggested to Eric Jones and members that it would be a good idea to invite Canadensis to a future CEFAC meeting to go over the concept and progress to date.
  • Canadian Engagement Group - Ottawa Hospital
    • The Council was updated on CEG discussion over the past few months.  Some members asked for CEG notes to be circulated from time to time for information.

Next meeting

  • Scheduled on Thursday November 7, 2019 at 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in room 2097 of the K.W. Neatby Building – Teleconference available
