Summary of recipient’s annual plans |
The Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute is repositioning to be a driving force for dialogue and innovative research to inform future agriculture and agri-food policy decisions in Canada. The 2020-2023 fiscal years mark an important opportunity for the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute to map out its future. Recognizing that today’s world is very different than the world the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute confronted when it was first formed, while looking to build the next generation of the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute, the Board of Directors and staff developed the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute’s renewed value proposition that guides our policy research activities. Increasingly, the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute’s policy research must also respond to two critical, inter-related challenges that will move Canada towards a sustainable agri-food system for future generations: Canada in a changing, multi-polar world, and the ability of Canada and its agriculture and agri-food sector to successfully mitigate and adapt to climate change, in order to maintain its natural capital and continued ability to produce sustainably. These two broad challenges make our work even more vital and present an opportunity for agriculture to become a truly strategic asset for Canada while maintaining and enhancing producer and processor livelihoods. The Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute’s refined value proposition is expressed through eight key strategic priorities for 2020-2021:
The Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute will continue to work tirelessly to broaden its influence, reach out to a more diverse array of partners, publish bold new research and dialogue to lead in defining Canada’s place in a multi-polar world, and in mitigation and adaptation to climate change, while remaining true to its core values, vision, and mission. |
