Response to parliamentary committees

There were two reports tabled in Parliament requesting a Government response from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, as described below.

  1. The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food

    On November 27, 2020, the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food presented its first report, Facing the Unexpected: Enhancing Business Risk Management Programs for Agriculture and Agri-food Businesses. The Report focused on enhancing the business risk management programs for agriculture and agri-food businesses. The Committee requested a government response to its 15 recommendations. A government response was tabled on March 12, 2021.

  2. The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry

    On July 1, 2019, the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry presented its 19th report, Made in Canada: Growing Canada's Value-Added Food Sector. On February 27, 2020, the Senate adopted the Report and requested a government response to its nine recommendations. A government response was tabled on July 21, 2020.

Response to audits conducted by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada (including audits conducted by the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development)

  1. 2020 Fall Reports of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development to the Parliament of Canada

    Report 2—Departmental Progress in Implementing Sustainable Development Strategies—Safe and Healthy Communities

    This review focused on whether federal departments and agencies contributed to the goal of safe and healthy communities in the 2016–2019 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy.

    Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will continue to follow the guidance of Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat to ensure that its Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy supports all contributing actions in the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy that are relevant and appropriate to the department’s mandate. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will support collective efforts among the departments and agencies involved when preparing future strategies.

Response to audits conducted by the Public Service Commission of Canada or the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages

There were no audits in 2020–21 requiring a response by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
