During that year, Silk was the leading brand, followed by So Fresh and Natur-a. From 2018 to 2020, sales of milk alternative beverages in Canada recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.4%. During this period, sales of soy drinks declined by a CAGR of −2.6%, while sales of other milk alternative beverages, that include among other oat milk, almond milk or hazelnut milk, increased by a CAGR of 11.9%. Sales of milk alternative beverages are forecast to reach US$469.8 million in 2025 and to record a CAGR of 8.4% from 2021 to 2025.

Groupe Danone was also the largest milk alternative beverages company in the United States in 2020. The company was followed by Blue Diamond Growers and Califia Farms. From 2018 to 2020, sales of milk alternative beverages in the United States increased by a CAGR 9.7%. Sales of soy drinks during this period declined by a CAGR −8.1% while sales of other milk alternative beverages increased by a CAGR of 12.9%. According to data from Mintel one hundred sixty-one (161) milk alternative beverages were launched in Canada between January 2018 and February 2021 while two hundred sixty-four (264) milk alternative beverages were launched in the United States during the same period.

In 2020, retail sales of soy drinks in Canada were valued at US$89.5 million, representing 27% of total sales of milk alternative beverages in Canada. From 2018 to 2020, sales of milk alternative beverages recorded a CAGR of 7.4%. During this period, sales of other milk alternative beverages had a CAGR of 11.9% while sales of soy drinks declines by a CAGR of −2.6%. During the 2021-2025 period, sales of milk alternative beverages is forecast to record a CAGR of 8.4%. 1: Milk alternative drinks include both soy drinks and other milk alternatives

In 2020, Earth's Own Food Co Inc was the leading company in terms of sales of soy drinks. During that year, the company held a market share of 40.0%, with sales valued at US$35.8 million. The company was followed by Groupe Danone with sales valued at US$20.0 million (market share of 22.4%) and Nutrisoya Foods Inc, with sales estimated at $US15.9 million (market share of 17.7%).

For other alternative milk drinks, Groupe Danone led in terms of retail sales in 2020. The company's retail sales of other milk alternative beverages were valued at US$118.2 million, holding 47.8% market share. In 2020, Earth's Own Food Co Inc had the second largest other milk alternative beverages retail sales with US$57.3 million, representing a market share of 23.2%. Blue Diamond Growers was the company with the third largest market share, with sales valued at US$23.5 million (market share of 9.5%).

In 2020, Silk, a brand owned by Groupe Danone, was the most important milk alternative beverages brand in terms of retail sales in Canada. The brand was leading in sales both soy drinks and other milk alternative beverages categories. In 2020, sales of Silk products were valued at US$138.2 million, with a market share of 41%. Occupying the second place, So Fresh, recorded retail sales valued at US$53.5 million. Retail sales from So Fresh were all from the other milk alternatives category. In third place, Natur-a, had retail sales valued at US$26.2 million during that year.

In the soy drinks category, sales from So Good were the second most important with sales valued at US$19.0 million in 2020. So Nice came in third, with retail sales valued at US$16.9 million.
