Cameron: … who was trying to put food on the table. And he thought he could do that by moving some livestock.

Cameron: I'm Cameron Bergen, I am the director of business solutions for Steve's Livestock. We're based out of Blumenort, Manitoba....

Cameron: … just southeast of Winnipeg.

Cameron: A lot of the producers and processors started to trade cross-border more and more as a result of NAFTA…

Cameron: … and as they started to explode and grow, we did it with them.

[Cut to Cameron being interviewed.]

Cameron: We'll export and move anything from genetics stock which will end up in an airport in Chicago or possibly Texas or Florida, to market loads…

Cameron: ...to smaller pigs that'll be distributed throughout the United States.

Cameron: Our organization, with our 150 trucks…

Cameron: ... we will cross around 300 times a week.

Cameron: Then what we do is we look to bring goods back.

Cameron: As we’ve started to export more and become a company that needed to be more aware of what was happening in the U.S. we started finding and growing better relationships with U.S. suppliers.

Cameron: What that allowed us to do is, over the last 30 years, bring a multitude of innovations and new products to market.

[Cut to Cameron being interviewed.]

Cameron: The trucking industry is the backbone of the exchange of goods.

Cameron: Two thirds of goods that is exchanged of our trillion-and-a-half dollar shared economy…

Cameron: … gets moved on trucks.

Cameron: When we look at what we call our industry, we don't draw a border between that when we think of Canada and the U.S.

Cameron: Our industry is us working together with the leaders. And we have to do that. Globalization has seen over 70% consolidation in North America. The only way we can compete on a global scale is if we work together. And we have had nothing but great success working with our U.S. partners. Working together to bring new innovations that help us on both sides of the border. Regardless of where it is.
