South Dakota exported $666 million to Canada, including:

  • $350M in grain alcohol
  • $117M in oil-cakes
  • $35M in dog or cat food
  • $26M in soya-bean oil
  • $24M in corn

South Dakota imported $102 million from Canada, including:

  • $33M in live pigs
  • $15M in live bovine animals
  • $11M in dried legumes
  • $9M in fertilized birds’ eggs
  • $7M in oats

South Dakota’s top agriculture and agri-food export markets:

  • Canada: 47%
  • Mexico: 30%
  • Japan: 6%
  • China: 5%
  • Korea: 3%
