Farmers are on the front lines of climate change, facing increased risk of extreme weather events, such as floods and droughts. At the same time, agriculture is a key part of the solution—farming can capture carbon, support healthy soils and help protect the environment.
To make agriculture more sustainable for future generations, Canada and the European Union (EU) are working together under the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). This partnership aims to share knowledge, address common challenges and develop solutions that benefit people in both Canada and the EU. Since 2021, leaders from both sides have guided an agriculture dialogue focused on promoting sustainability, sharing best practices and taking action on climate and environmental issues.
As part of this ongoing work, the EU-Canada Dialogue on agriculture advances cooperation on sustainable food systems. Through joint discussions and projects, Canada and the EU are exploring ways to tackle global issues such as climate change and sustainable farming practices.
