Call to order/Chair remarks

  • Eric Jones welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.

Observers Comment/Questions

  • None

Review of previous meeting minutes August 20, 2020

  • Adoption of the previous minutes was approved.

Business arising from the previous minutes

  • None

Chair

  • Eric reported that he is still seeking a replacement as chairperson. He also reported on the addition of a new representative for the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, John Zvonar. A representative for education/agricultural science was still pending.

Working Group on knowledge transfer

  • A draft article on the survey of Central Experimental Farm visitors was circulated.

Update on Ottawa Hospital developments

  • Paul Johanis, chair of The Ottawa Hospital Campus Engagement Group (CEG), provided an update on the ongoing project to build the new hospital. He noted that the hospital was in process of finishing its Stage 2 functional programming work (for example, campus roles, space needs, adjacencies, equipment) and the conclusion of that work will inform future public consultations.
  • Eric Jones is the CEFAC representative on the CEG and will circulate information to the Council as it becomes available.

New Business

  • Dick Coote gave a brief overview of the hospital-linked organic farm concept for information.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada updates

  • Robert Ranger reported structural work was being done on Building 88. It was also noted that the Central Experimental Farm will be adding signage to the farm as a result of increased pilferage of research plants.

Update from members

  • Kerry-Leigh Burchill reported that the Agriculture and Food Museum had re-opened with reduced hours and restricted attendance.

  • Scheduled on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 1:30 pm (1.5 hr. length) - ZOOM Meeting
