Response to parliamentary committees

As described below, two reports requesting Government Responses from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, were tabled in Parliament during the 2022–23 fiscal year.

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food

On June 8, 2022, the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food presented it's fifth report, Confronting Urgent Challenges and Building the Resilience of the Canadian Food Supply Chain. The report focused on the challenges faced by Canada's food supply chain and recommended actions the Government of Canada can take to ensure the chain's short-term flexibility and long-term resilience. The Committee requested a Government Response to 17 recommendations. A Government Response was tabled on October 6, 2022.

The Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry

On October 27, 2022, the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry presented its sixth report, Treading Water: The impact of and response to the 2021 British Columbia Floods. The report identified some of the lessons that can be learned from the federal and provincial governments' responses to the 2021 British Columbia floods. The Committee requested a Government Response to three recommendations. Public Safety Canada was the lead on the Response and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada responded to recommendation 2. A Government Response was tabled on April 21, 2023.

Response to audits conducted by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada (including audits conducted by the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development)

There were no audits in 2022–23 requiring a response by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

There were no audits in 2022–23 requiring a response by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
