Submit your application until September 30, 2027. The intake period may close sooner if funding has been fully committed or if otherwise announced here.
The program ends March 31, 2028.
The AgriMarketing Program: Kosher and Halal Investment Component is offering $2 million in contribution funding over 3 fiscal years (2025-26 to 2027-28) to support the Canadian kosher and halal red meat sector for export promotion, market development and trade in Canada and abroad.
Program objectives
To receive funding, your project must align with the following program objective:
- provide funding support to national, not-for-profit agricultural sector associations in the Canadian red meat sector (beef and veal) to:
- increase and diversify exports of kosher and halal meats to international markets
- seize domestic market opportunities through industry-led promotional activities to differentiate Canadian products and producers
- leverage Canada's reputation for high-quality and safe food
Selected projects will support strategic marketing campaigns to promote Canadian kosher and halal red meat by leveraging various promotional activities and media platforms, such as radio, print, or social media, as well as more traditional venues such as trade shows, industry conferences and business events in Canada and abroad.
Funding
If you receive funding, project contributions will typically be less than $1 million, but Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) may contribute up to $2 million towards a project.
The non-repayable contribution funding will be used to:
- develop domestic and international marketing strategies and promotional plans
- increase economic opportunities throughout Canada's supply chain
- promote Canada's kosher and halal red meat products in Canada and abroad
- expand and diversify export markets to target commercial opportunities.
Cost-sharing
Contributions toward eligible costs will normally be shared between AAFC and you as follows:
- AAFC — a maximum of 50%
- You — a minimum of 50%
Your portion of the cost-share must be cash contributions.note 1 In-kind contributions are ineligible.note 2
You may receive an additional 20% on the cost-share ratio under the following 2 priority areas:
- AAFC — 70%
- You — 30%
- to support eligible project activities for market diversification efforts targeting the following lucrative, high-growth markets in the Indo-Pacific Region:
- Bangladesh
- Brunei
- Cambodia
- Indonesia
- Laos
- Malaysia
- Myanmar
- Nepal
- the Philippines
- Pakistan
- Singapore
- Sri Lanka
- Taiwan
- Thailand
- Vietnam
- where the majority of the business (more than 50%) is owned or led by one or more of the following underrepresented and marginalized groups:
- Indigenous Peoples
- youth, aged 39 and under
- women
- visible minorities
- persons with disabilities
- 2SLGBTQI+
