The growth of the global buckwheat exports was a CAGR of 17.3%, the export value is bigger than the 2019 level but lower than the 2020 and 2021 levels.
The top 10 global exporters are Poland (US$13.3 million), the US (US$11.7 million), Latvia (US$9.6 million), China (US$8.9 million), Lithuania (US$8.2 million), Russia (US$6.5 million), Kazakhstan (US$5.7 million), Estonia (US$5.2 million), Netherlands (US$4.7 million) and Germany (US$4.2 million) in 2022. Canada ranks the 11th place with the sales at US$4.0 million.

Canada ranks the 23rd place with the importing value of US$1.0 million.

Product launch and trends analysis (value-added applications)
According to data from Mintel, 7,643 products containing buckwheat as an ingredient were launched in the world between Jan. 2018 and Dec. 2022. During this period, bakery was the leading sub-category, followed by breakfast cereals and side dishes. Most popular claims were Low/No/Reduced Allergen, gluten free or organic. Location of manufacture of these 7,643 products are located mainly in the top 10 countries below. Top 5 countries are China, France, Australia, Italy and USA. Ferrero, Dr. Schär and Mondelez were the three companies with the most launches in the past five years.
