5. After you apply
1. We'll send you an acknowledgement notice
After you submit your application, an acknowledgement notice will be sent to you.
Your application is considered submitted once you receive the acknowledgement notice.
Please note that even if all eligibility criteria are met, the submission of an application creates no obligation on the part of the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to provide funding.
2. We'll verify your application
Once we receive your application, we'll verify and advise you that it's complete and there's sufficient detail in the application to begin a full assessment. If your application is incomplete, we'll contact you for the required information.
If your marketing agency is ineligible for the program, we'll contact you to explain why.
3. We'll assess your application
If your agency is eligible, we'll assess your administrative capability and financial means to carry out your proposed marketing plan and your capacity to market the agricultural products under your cooperative plan.
We'll also forecast the expected average wholesale price (EAWP) of your agricultural product(s) for the coming crop year and assess the risks related to marketing the product(s). We'll look at factors like production, demand, quality, and price trends.
The forecast is based on information you provide in your application and a market analysis by our commodity specialists. We'll evaluate the risks related to your ability to carry out your proposed marketing plan and the product itself. We'll determine a risk factor to apply to the EAWP to set the final maximum price guarantee.
The completed assessment is presented to a review committee, which prepares a recommendation for the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food or their delegates. If your application is not approved, we'll inform you of the decision.
4. We'll contact you to discuss the price guarantee agreement
If your application is approved, we'll contact you to discuss the price guarantee level and other terms of the agreement. A signed agreement by the Minister or their delegates will then be forwarded to your agency for signature by your authorized officers.
You may request amendments to the agreement, for example, to modify the product list or adjust the maximum price guarantee levels. Any amendments to the price guarantee levels will go through a similar review process as the initial application.
