Step 2. Who is eligible
Eligible applicants under the African Swine Fever Industry Preparedness Program: Welfare Slaughter and Disposal Stream are both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations that operate in Canada. They may include:
- academic institutions
- associations
- businesses and/or corporations
- Indigenous groups
- provincial/territorial/municipal governments
All eligible applicants must be legal entities capable of entering into legally binding agreements.
Eligible applicants must also meet the principles and criteria outlined in the Applicant guide, for example:
- Provincial/territorial/municipal governments must provide a minimum of 40% of the funding towards eligible costs
- All other eligible applicants must provide a minimum of 15% of the funding towards eligible costs
Consideration may be given to regional applicants if they can demonstrate the ability to deliver a project that contributes to the greater good of the Canadian pork sector in the face of African swine fever.
