For your protection: Contact Centre requires confirmation of your identity

According to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, identity theft claims millions of victims across North America every year.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is working to ensure you are protected when it comes to the release of your financial information.

The Privacy Act prohibits the release of personal information without consent except in certain specified circumstances so AAFC is required to confirm your identity when you ask for financial details related to your account or application to an AAFC program. To do this you will be asked for specific information. This is for your protection.

If you’re the participant, we’ll use 1 of 2 methods to confirm your identity
  1. 2-factor authentication - an enhanced security feature that sends a unique one-time passcode to your email or phone that you have on file with us.

    Before we send the code, you’ll be asked for:

    • your full name and mailing address
    • your Participant identification number (PIN)
  2. We’ll ask you for the following information:

    • your full name and mailing address
    • your PIN

    We’ll also ask you for either of the following:

    • 2 figures from your most recent Statement A form;
      • For example, a commodity sales amount and an expense figure.
    • 2 figures from 2 separate notices issued to you;
      • For example, the benefit amount on your AgriStability Calculation of Benefits (COB) and the fee amount on your Enrolment Notice.
If you're an authorized Contact person calling on a participant's behalf, we'll ask you for
  • your full name and the participant's full name
  • the participant's PIN
  • your mailing address and the participant's mailing address

We’ll also ask you for either of the following:

  • 2 figures from the participant’s most recent Statement A form;
    • For example, a commodity sales amount and an expense figure.
  • 2 figures from 2 separate notices issued to the participant;
    • For example, the benefit amount on their AgriStability Calculation of Benefits (COB) and the fee amount on their Enrolment Notice.

If someone calls on your behalf (for example, your spouse), but is not listed as a Contact person, information cannot be released without verbal authority or written authorization from you (the participant) to disclose the information.
