For your protection: Contact Centre requires confirmation of your identity

According to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, identity theft claims millions of victims across North America every year.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is working to ensure you are protected when it comes to the release of your financial information.

The Privacy Act prohibits the release of personal information without consent except in certain specified circumstances so AAFC is required to confirm your identity when you ask for financial details related to your account or application to an AAFC program. To do this you will be asked for specific information. This is for your protection.

If you are the participant, you will be asked for:

  • your full name and mailing address
  • your Participant Identification Number (PIN)
  • 2 figures from your most recent AgriStability form or notice, such as:
    • Statement A form - commodity sales and expense figure
    • Calculation of Program Benefits (COB) - inventory figure and benefit amount

If you are an authorized Contact Person calling on a participant's behalf, you will be asked for:

  • your full name and the participant's full name
  • the participant's PIN
  • your mailing address and the participant's mailing address
  • 2 figures from the participant's most recent AgriStability form or notice, such as:
    • Statement A form - commodity sales and expense figure
    • Calculation of Program Benefits (COB) - inventory figure and benefit amount

If someone calls on your behalf (for example, your spouse), but is not listed as a Contact Person, information cannot be released without verbal authority or written authorization from you (the participant) to disclose the information.
