  • Alberta accounts for approximately 43% of Canada’s inventory
  • 3,178,045 cattle and 185,799 calves slaughtered in federally and provincially inspected establishments in Canada
  • 1.28 million tonnes of beef and 30,525 tonnes of veal produced.
  • Exports: 797,327 head of cattle and calves valued at $2.3 billion; 494,298 tonnes of beef and veal valued at $4.93 billion
  • Imports: 406,810 head of cattle and calves valued at $632 million; 209,531 tonnes of beef and veal valued at $2.2 billion
  • Farm cash receipts from the sale of cattle and calves totaled $16.75 billion, 16.0% of total receipts.
